New heart-shaped island resort in Dubai aims to woo honeymooners

European developer Kleindienst has announced plans to create a new island resort for honeymooners in Dubai.

The heart-shaped St Petersburg Island, located within the company’s The Heart of Europe project, will now be developed specifically for honeymooners, a statement said.

Located 6.5km from the coast of Dubai, the island will be surrounded by 90 floating Seahorse villas, each connected to the development via floating jetties.

Guests at the island will be able to stay at the underwater villas – which include submerged bedrooms and bathrooms and offer views of the surrounding coral garden and marine life.

The island will also offer a 24/7 butler service, the statement said.

Facilities at St Petersburg include an infinity pool, shallow lagoons, lush tropical gardens and a pool bar and restaurant. Snorkelling and diving activities will also be offered, along with spa and relaxation facilities.

Guests will also have access to Main Europe and Switzerland Island within The Heart of Europe, which will both operate outdoor climate controlled technology throughout the year.

In terms of F&B, guests can eat at the resort or dine at the nearby Main Europe Island.

The new island draws inspiration from honeymoon hotspots found in The Maldives, Bora Bora and The Caribbean, the statement added.

Kleindienst hopes that St Petersburg will mainly attract couples from the GCC and the Middle East.
No details were disclosed about when the project will be completed or opened.

Chairman of The Heart of Europe Josef Kleindienst said: “St Petersburg Island will be a dream destination for couples and newlyweds. The five star resort will offer privacy, tranquility and first-class hospitality.

“The honeymoon business is a multi-billion dollar industry and we are excited by the prospect of newly-married couples choosing to spend the most special holiday of their lives at St Petersburg Island very soon.”
Guests will be able to access St Petersburg Island with private transfers by helicopter, seaplane or boat.

The company also confirmed that its Honeymoon Hotel on Main Europe Island is set to open at the end of 2018.
